Retirement residences and care facilities provide essential care, support, and services that play an important role in residents’ daily lives. Their teams work incredibly hard to meet the needs of many individuals throughout the day.
Polished Senior Concierge is not intended to replace the care already being provided.
Instead, we complement those services by offering dedicated one-on-one time focused entirely on your loved one.
This may include companionship, conversation, participation in activities, personal wellness services, planned creative engagement, recreational movement, attending programs together, emotional support, family updates, and individualized engagement based on their interests and preferences.
Many families find comfort knowing there is someone who can spend unhurried time with their loved one—someone who gets to know their stories, routines, personality, and what brings them joy.
For some individuals, that extra connection helps reduce feelings of loneliness, increases engagement, and provides a greater sense of purpose and belonging.

Is Polished Senior Concierge home care?

No.
Polished Senior Concierge is a non-medical Quality-of-life support service for the aging population. Our focus is on enhancing quality of life through meaningful one-on-one support and personalized engagement.  
While we work alongside families, care teams, and existing support providers, we do not replace nursing care, medical services, or regulated health professionals.

Do you work with individuals living with dementia?

Yes.
Many of the individuals we support are living with various forms of dementia and memory loss.
We understand the importance of consistency, patience, familiarity, and meeting each person where they are.
Our approach focuses on creating positive experiences, meaningful connection, and emotional comfort through familiar routines, activities, conversation, music, sensory engagement, and compassionate companionship.
Even when memories change, the feelings created through kindness and connection often remain.

How are visits customized?

Before services begin, we take time to learn about the individual’s interests, routines, preferences, life story, and current support needs.
Visits are then tailored to what will be most meaningful and beneficial for that person.
Some visits may focus on activities and engagement, while others may focus on companionship, relaxation, or emotional support.

Will my loved one always see the same person?

Whenever possible, clients are paired with the same familiar caregiver to encourage trust, comfort, and relationship-building over time.

Can family members receive updates?

Yes.
Many families appreciate receiving updates, particularly when they live out of town or cannot visit as often as they would like.
Depending on family preferences, updates may include:

What if I can’t visit as often as I would like?

Instead, we provide compassionate support and companionship between visits while helping families stay connected to their loved one’s well-being.
You can continue being a daughter, son, spouse, grandchild, or friend while knowing someone trustworthy is helping fill the gaps.

Is this covered by Alberta Health Services or private health benefits?

Accepted Answer

Because our services are non-medical, they are generally not covered through Alberta Health Services.
Coverage under private insurance plans varies by provider and policy. Families are encouraged to contact their insurance provider directly to determine eligibility.
